Bob Schulz Talks About Gene ChapmanI do know about Gene Chapman. When I was approaching Austin for the Austin meeting, Austin, Texas. I received a call from my wife in the home office that she had received a note from Gene Chapman about this hunger fast. I had her fax it to me at the restaraunt where I was speaking that night. And it was just by coincidence Gene Chapman is in Austin where I was. The next morning I went over to his location and I spoke with him for some time and what I saw was a wonderful man. Just a wonderful, smart, well educated man who was very committed. The police have come by and ok'd everything. He has basically decided to fast until the government answers the questions. Particularly to show him the law that he's required to file and pay this income tax. He sits on the corner. He has his Bible with him, that's all. There will be an article going up at givemeliberty.org about Gene Chapman very soon. Listen to the interview at the Bob Schulz blog.

Day TwelveWe had Debra Ferguson from We The People drive up from about two and a half hours south of here and she's on a thirty six hour fast with me. She's going to be acting as my nurse for me as this thing progresses. She's from Charlotte, Texas. She's been fasting since Friday night. Texas State Coordinator, Hank Goltz, is here helping me, putting a banner on my RV, and helping with making some signs. Looks like my sunburn is going to heal up real well. They're doing Saturday work I guess. Probably opening mail and feeding it into Hal I call it, the computer. So Hal can feed back out his killing material to the rest of us, his frivolous penalties. I met the lady who runs the computer there, ironically she's blind. She seemed very interested in helping me out with this problem. I talked to a young man last night who is probably one of the more prominent economic students at the University of Texas from what I can detect. He's going to try to bring some of the law professors and economics professors from the University of Texas over here to meet with me. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
I'm not sure that the IRS has the character or the wherewithall to be able to step back from the plate and say you know what we're going to retract out tax liability to this guy. We can't provide anything that's profoundly new that he hasn't examined. So this guy's gonna die if we don't do something. I'm deadly serious about this. I'm at a stage in my life at thirty six where all I care about is what lies on the other side of the grave. I get a lot of comfort as the fast continues in the idea of leaving this world and being a martyr to a great cause, that's really where I stand on it. Listen to more here... audblog audio post

Email From Gene Chapman To Rose LearDate: 2003/04/26 Sat AM 07:41:15 EDT Dear Rose: Thank you for your kind words. Let us bind this matter on earth together, as the Word says. I have two Treasury Agents trying to work back channels in Washington , D.C. They face a lot of bureaucratic pressure if their names get out so I'm returning their apparent good faith effort by calling them by pseudonyms -- Agents Judy & Wendy. They appear to be my last shot at a solution, as all other channels here in Austin have come up empty on my question. One thing is sure, the discussion throughout all of Austin's IRS/Treasury community has gone from "We know the answer, but we can't put our finger on it right now." to "No one in Austin has the solution, we're trying Washington for a last attempt." I can see in their eyes and body language that they are questioning right along with me now. Thank you again for writing. May you be blessed and prosper. Gene Friday, April 25, 2003

Gene Chapman On Local Television NewscastThis is the audio portion of a newscast on local Austin, Texas television station KVUE, a ABC affiliate, Monday April 21, 2003 Click this icon to listen. The IRS spokesperson's name is Kenneth Vargas. He has yet to visit Gene. Listen carefully to what is being said. Not having the video portion is to your advantage here as you are not distracted by visuals. KVUE has three local news segments, 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. -- this is from the 6:00 p.m. broadcast and this was the only broadcast that we know of. KVUE, channel 24, is owned by the BELO Corporation. The male voice you hear belongs to evening anchor person Ron Oliveira and the female reporter is Quita Culpepper. The other stations in Austin have yet to do anything. The cable newsstation, NEWS 8, filmed on two different days and it is unknown as to whether or not they cablecast anything about Gene.

New Pictures of Gene Chapman
Thank you Renee Haley for sending the new pictures of Gene Chapman. And thank you James in Austin for the new picture and map of Gene's spot. I just got back from visiting Gene in Austin after his 10th day of what he is determined is his "death fast". He seems much weaker to me, perhaps because during the heat of the day the sun drains him of all energy. He laughingly declares that the sun may kill him before the fast does (I'm enclosing pictures of what looks like second degree burns on his legs). In fact, he makes light of his death a lot which really bothers me. I feel like I'm looking at a healthy young man who should have so much to live for at this point in his life and yet he's made a conscious decision to leave this world behind. Gene said a police officer told him that if they find him unconscious, they'll rush him to a hospital and put him on life support unless he has left explicit instructions to the contrary. This afternoon he asked me to take him to the nearest hospital so that he could sign a non-resuscitation form to prevent anyone from trying to keep him alive at the end of his fast. That was NOT a job I relished but it was important to Gene. Since neither one of us knew how to get to a nearby hospital, we had a good hour-long scenic tour of the south Austin area. He enjoyed the air conditioning and I picked up a bottle of water for him. I think he also just enjoyed the company. He said, "It gets really lonely here in the afternoon." I asked him if he'd had a chance to do any reading at night by the battery-operated lamp I gave him. He's reading a little bit of Gandhi, but that's all. He doesn't really have the energy to do anything else. Fred, I really hope someone can get information about Gene on the WTP website soon. Gene refuses to put up the 5 foot "Live Free Or Die" banner on his RV until he knows that website will explain to people what he's doing. I can't explain why he didn't want me to hang the banner and cover up the website with him blog address but this is his "party" so I didn't push it. I can't help but feel that there's not nearly enough attention drawn to Gene and his battle with the IRS. I would think that the more fan fare there is, the more attention he will get, the more people will check out his blog spot, the more people will start to wonder why the IRS doesn't simply answer his question, and the more the IRS employees will start to sweat every time they drive past him on the way to their jobs in the den of the beast. Here's what's really getting to me ... Gene is following in the footsteps of Gandhi, a wise man who was willing to sacrifice himself for the good of his people. Because of the poor conditions of those people, and their respect for life, he was surrounded and adored by crowds of followers who hung on his every word, and it was because of those thousands of people whose hearts he touched, that he was able to bring about radical changes in the tyrannical British government. But here we are in 21st Century America. And in a city the size of Austin, Texas, there are few people who are willing to take the time to even speak an encouraging word to this man. Everyone is just too busy with their mind-numbing routines to care that this man is dying on the street. They have to rush home from their jobs in time to catch the 6:00 news and "Sex in the City". There is no more respect for life than there is reverence for death. Gene is alone. And I can't help but feel that he never expected his swan song to fall on deaf ears and end in a silence unnoticed by the masses. He keeps reading about the life and times of Gandhi and he keeps wondering why he's alone. The IRS will ignore him and outlast him and most people will never know what happened. They'll never understand the significance of what Gene has done. They'll never be able to comprehend that he was willing to go the distance to hold the beast accountable for what it's done to all Americans. And the beat will go on just as before. I'm having a little trouble dealing with that right now. I don't think even a stray dog should die alone ... much less a child of God. But if the Lord is willing I'll go back tomorrow. I just wish I could go and find him surrounded by others. It would mean a lot to Gene to know that people care about what he's doing. Thursday, April 24, 2003

Day Ten Of Death FastWell the sun's out so I'm feelin' pretty ruff right now and I found out I got second degree burns on the front of both legs from the sun. I'm not feelin' real good but I'm here. I've actually been making some funeral arrangements to be honest with you. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
Well, like I said, I believe in truth. I've studied in the ministry for ten years. If the Lord's decision is that there is a ram to be caught in the thicket then that's fine. Keep fasting Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's with me if you will. Tell them that I'm down here and I'm resigned to die and I'm not backin' up. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
The police kind of set me at ease last night. They said that I could go down to the hospital and file a refusal to revive and so I'm gonna go over there and do that in the next few days if I can get a ride over to the local hospital. I'm thinkin' as May comes about we're going to be getting into higher temperatures. Maybe I could be a martyr for a good cause. Listen to more here... audblog audio post

Gene Chapman On Day Six Of Death FastI'm in day six of the death fast. I'm asking people to call Kay Bailey Hutchison and tell her to show me where I have a tax liability in the code. I am asking people around the world or around the nation as the spirit leads them to begin a fast with me on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's to build solidarity in the movement. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
Well call, hopefully, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison 512-916-5834. She's been the one who's been around for three and a half years. Dick Army and Phil Gram coincidentally resigned after I wrote a letter that said if there is no tax liability in the law, then to the extent that you remain silent in these matters you are complicit in extortion. There are four things... 1. Show me in the law where I have a tax liability. 2. Retract your challenge to my taxes. 3. Present me with something that is so interesting and profound that it would require for me to allow the IRS to save face to stop the fast and evaluate it. 4. I'll leave my body on the street as a testiment against the IRS and the leaders of the nation. Those are the four issues. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
I'm from the Dallas area. I'm actually the great, great, great nephew of Captain Thomas Robbins and his brother John Robbins who fought under the command of General Sam Houston at the battle of San Jacinto. Listen to more here... audblog audio post
Please make sure that I've conveyed my interest in having people beginning to fast Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's as the spirit leads them. Jesus said if you have the faith of the grain of mustard seed you can say unto this mountain be thoust cast into the sea and it shall be done. And that's the prayer that I've been praying up and down the streets here. Listen to more here... audblog audio post

Renee Haley To Visit Gene Chapman TodayHi, Doug, I just got your message and as fate would have it, I was going to visit with Gene after church and dinner with my family today. I'll try to leave about 2:00 and get into Austin about 3:00 (depending, of course, on traffic and road construction on IH-35). I'll take my digital camera and get as many pictures as I can. I don't know if Gene has a cell phone (I suspect he does) but if not I'll have mine with me that I'll leave with Gene for a few days if necessary. I'll try to e-mail the pictures of Gene to you this evening. They'll probably be in .jpg format so if I have trouble getting them to you by computer, maybe you could give me some technical advice on how to do that. I'm about to leave for church so if there's anything else you need from me before I leave for Austin, you can call my cell phone after 12:30. Have a blessed Easter. Renee

If a 100% tax on labor is absolute slavery, cut and dried, then wouldn't it stand that a 1% tax on labor is a degree of slavery? And if property is the physical manifestation of labor, then isn't a tax on property "slavery" in it's end? And for one to impose slavery to any degree upon a free person is "andrapodistes" (I Timothy 1:10): "one who unjustly reduces free men to slavery." Right out of the Greek lexicon.
"menstealers"/ "enslavers" (I Timothy 1:10): (Greek word: andrapodistes) Those who impose a taxing of labor (i.e. property/ income tax) upon uncondemned free persons; thus, under the judgment of the Moral Law of God. "Slave" (I Corinthians 7:23): (Greek word: dulos) One whose labor and/ or benefit thereof is by force claimed by another. Christians are instructed to persue freedom from slavery: "[I]f you may be made free [from slavery (taxation of labor and/ or property)], use it rather [for the winning of souls to Christ for salvation]" (I Corinthians 7:21b).
